Dear John,
I have been entertaining the idea of doing a bit of randonneuring this summer. The Cabot Trail comes to mind and fromwhat I have seen of and read about it is a pretty majestic trail around Cape Breton Island. Rated one of the best treks in the world yadda yadda...
The whole loop is only 300 km and would be nice to do over a week. The area is full of fishing villages and beaches and campsites to stop at with lots of fish to eat and Acadians to attempt french with.
Sometime in mid to late summer would probably be best because I think it gets really wet here in the spring.
In doing it I see myself with a co-pilot, and I know Cj wouldn't be that interested, would you?

That would be pretty... pretty... pretty... pretty good. Except the cheapest flight I've been able to find is about 500 bucks more than I have, which is zero. I was maybe going to fly to Montreal in August and drive back, but that won't be planned for a while yet, so I'll have to see. I looked at the route though and it would be rad. I plan to do some for rill touring on the island and east of here this summer too. Watched Crazy Heart yet?
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to find time for watching Crazy Heart, but all TV time has been dedicated to finishing Season 4.
ReplyDeleteSince you would be coming to me for the trip I think it would be fair to split the travel costs. I would be willing to pay half of your way with bike if it would make it possible. Can you check a bike without additional fees?
That's pretty dang generous man. Bikes are about 50-100 bucks extra usually, but i might be able to ship it out to you or something for cheaper beforehand. Would you be into coming out here for a little gulf islands/ vancouver island touring? It's pretty much my finances that will limit me, but i will work on a budget that let's me get out there, especially if I can work it so I can drive back with Chris instead of getting a round trip flight.
ReplyDeleteA gulf Island trip would probably be pretty spectacular as well. I haven't seen enough of the West Coast. I'd love to do the Cabot Trail though and am down with splitting some costs to make it happen.
ReplyDeleteHow goes the Job hunt? How's Van. I gave some Vancouverite's some directions last night, they were like for a bar no doubt.
